Opus Dei welcome potential personal prelature for SSPX

El Opus Dei alaba la propuesta de una prelatura personal a los "lefebvrianos" - ABC.es - Noticias Agencias

Opus Dei has expressed their "joy" regarding the intention of the Holy See to grant a Personal Prelature of the traditionalist Society of St. Pius X ("Lefebvrists") if this schismatic group returns to the fold of the Catholic Church.

"If it comes into full communion of the Fraternity of St. Pius X with the Apostolic See and a personal prelature is established, this will be a cause of great joy," said a spokesman of Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church founded by the Spanish St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer and erected as aat personal prelature by Pope John Paul II in 1982.

Regarding the personal prelature, Opus Dei said in a statement that the canonical form "is very broad and allows a context for different realities, which have in common that they are composed of bishop, priests and people who still belong to the diocese in which they live ".

The Opus Dei said that the "broadness" explains how they fit a reality, whose adherents have a double dependency (the bishop of the diocese in which they live and where they receive all the sacraments and the prelate), and also "this possible new prelature." (cathcon??)

In this potential new prelature, Opus Dei said, "there seems to give a more general jurisdiction for the faithful to receive all the sacraments in the liturgical context prior to the reform of Paul VI."
