Pope won't be visiting Germany in 2010 after all

Despite speculation that he would be going to Berlin for the 20th Anniversary of the reunification of the country.    He had also been invited to Freiburg by the Chairman of the Bishops' Conference, Archbishop Zollitsch.

From various reports in Germany, following an announcement of the Bishop's Conference spokesman.

Could be a sign that the UK has displaced Germany in his travel plans for 2010, given the forthcoming beatification of Cardinal Newman, dear to the Pope's heart.

Ooh, decisions decisions. Germany which is so orthodox or the UK which is in the vanguard of the traditionalist fightback. I don't know which one I would choose.
True, true, whilst the Germans have a heretic as leader of their Bishops conference they'll never get round to dimantling their equivilent of the Magic Circle.
