Remarkable conversion story

The war criminal, Obersturmbannfuhrer Kappler was received by Fr Flaherty into the Catholic Church in March 1959. Right at the end of his life, shrunken by cancer, he was smuggled out of his Italian jail by his wife and died in his native Germany.

The actual story of Herr Kappler may well be as moving and inspiring as Mr. Gillibrand says, but the clip of the TV movie The Scarlet and the Black, posted here, ought not to deceive one into thinking that, in terms of quality, this is Hollywood's answer to Monsieur Vincent.
