Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Brigid Church:

St. Brigid is in danger and you can help.

Two key committee hearings are coming up, one in San Francisco in front of the landmarks board and the other in Sacramento for a key hearing on Carole Migden’s bill (sb169) that will make it possible to landmark St. Brigid.

The Sacramento hearing is on Tuesday, May 3. We’ll take Amtrak leaving San Francisco’s Ferry Building at 10:15 a.m. We’ll be back in the city by 6:45 pm. The fare is $36 round trip. A member of our board has volunteered to pay the fare. If you want to be reimbursed, please mail your ticket stub to our PO Box.

The San Francisco hearing is at City Hall the next day, May 4. Please meet in the rotunda at 1:15 pm for a 1:30 hearing upstairs.

Please leave a message at (415)364-1511 or send us a reply e-mail saying that your’re coming to either hearing. In case of any schedule changes, we will notify you. Please check our website for current information

Hope to see you there.

Many thanks,

Joe Dignan

And in this Church, as in so many others, the Congregation remains sitting after the Consecration. There are no kneelers any more, only very comfortable chairs.  Posted by Hello

The last forty years have produced a desacralised liturgy in many places. An illustration of two problems among many: the confusion of the font with a paddling pool and listening to a folk singer playing tunes locked for ever in the 1960s. The lyrics often confuse references to mankind and to God.  Posted by Hello

A symptom of the enormous liturgical problems of the Church. In this Belgian Church, the organ console has been moved into the sanctuary and the choir sits with its back to the reserved Blessed Sacrament throughout Mass. Posted by Hello
