Cardinal Maida plans to close parishes; which reduces the number of vocations to his new improved seminary, which reduces the number of priests ordained which then provides an excuse to close more Churches.
Not a question of having a seminary only, but what is being taught in the seminary. Most probably, the usual neo-modernism, out of touch with the devotions of the faithful.

Cardinal Maida to survey parish health
The bad idea of church closing moves on and into the Archdiocese of Detroit.
At Sacred Heart, Thomas said he plans to boycott the survey forms. "And I hope that others will refuse to fill it out, too. What they've done is set out these boxes that we're all supposed to fit into. We've been trying to tell the archdiocese that we've got other creative ideas about how to work in the city. But they don't want to hear it."

“I regard the precinct as an extremely exceptional institutional one. These important buildings of the neo-grecian former High Court, the Hospice and the Church itself along with St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, have a civility of a kind that would be dramatically altered by a campus and any retail and commercial development. Let alone the added traffic and parking.
A development of this kind pays scant regard to the body of the Church community of the Sacred Heart and is typical of the kind of railroading, over which some Diocesen administrators have earned a bad name.
Mr. Keating also added
‘IF IT IS A CASE OF GOD OR DOLLARS,
LET’S HAVE GOD WITHOUT THE DOLLARS”
And may that same God send his blessings to Mr Keating.

I have even seen a tabernacle being used as a drinks cabinet in a restaurant in Austrian.
One European priest, who shall be nameless and without country, offered liturgical consultancy services to parish churches in exchange for sacred objects (whose removal he had anyway recommended claiming to implement Vatican II). He then sold these on the antiques market for his personal account.
Oh renewal, what crimes have been committed in your name.
The Church does not need a renewal (we have already had forty years of that!- and we are still waiting for the fruit) it needs a great restoration.
